A bit of history

With 40' LOA and 100 m² sail area, Formula 40 was issued from a very simple class rule that gave birth to several very fast boats that helped increase overall multihull performance. Built by Jeanneau Technique Avancée, designed by Nigel Irens (BBQ/Castorama, Fujicolor, Fleury Michon, Enza...) Jeanneau's Formula 40 cats are very safe and easy to handle. They are perfect to experiment with speed, accessible to all with their 24' width and only 4000 pounds displacement. AaKa previously belonged to Yvon Fauconnier's (winner of the 84'Ostar, father of the also well-known Karine Fauconnier)and used to race for Gaj Neptune, Jeanneau retailer's association and the nautical review. .
The cat has now been simplified and softened in order to welcome beginners, Aaka is the perfect tool for the discovery of sailing pleasure. Enjoy unforgettable swimming as the approach of secret anchorage is child's play with the 2,5 foot draught and still share the sensations reserved for the most experienced of crews. You can easily dream of following the Orange crew around the world, or even of sharing their brand new Transatlantic record...!!

History (suite)

Image description The end of Formula 40's Grand Prix at the beginning of the 90's left these racers forgottenAaKa was simply dying in Saint Mandrier in le Var. Refitted for a private owner at CLP in Quiberon, she spent some happy years at La Trinité. But once again she was left unattended.

Charles d'Esclercs her new owner, previous head instructor at the Yacht Club d'Antibes, wellknown freelance skipper for many years, found her on his way back from the carribean and brought her back on the Riviera . Some work was done to make her simplier and easy to sail, Aaka is now the perfect boat to enjoy a day at sea on her 35 m² trampolino, find the most secluded creeks sith her 80 cm draft (with the center boards up) for marvellous swimming. But she remains a terrific racer making you feel the thrill of speed .
You can imagine being on board around the world or on her way to brake the Blue Ribbon...!!

Formula 40 still produces amazing catamaran very light and fast on the Leman Lake where swiss competitors are opening their brain to be the more efficient in very light winds. Nowadays Allinghi America's Cup winner team is one of the fastest catamaran ever built.
